In response to Gov. Whitmer’s recent signing of the Stay Home, Stay Safe executive order 2020-21 on March 23, Senior Services is now classified as an essential services employer due to the critical nature of the services we provide. Therefore, we will continue providing critical services to our clients, with modifications to keep all parties healthy and safe.
Because of this critical infrastructure status, our services will continue, including but not limited to providing our Meals on Wheels service, with expanded delivery due to congregate meal sites being closed. Standard meal production is approximately 1,500 meals per week, but our client list continues to grow along with community need. Over the past week, Senior Services has ramped up production to create an additional 3,200 meals. We continue to build a stock of over 20,000 frozen and shelf-stable meals.
While our offices remain closed to the public, we are in immediate need of volunteers for this program. We encourage those who are healthy and at low risk to contact us by phone at 269-382-0515 or email using info@seniorservices1.org. Senior Services will continue our other critical services including but not limited to behavioral health programs, home care, and resource information. We understand that these needs do not simply disappear in these critical times and we remain dedicated to empowering the people we serve to thrive in their community.
Stay healthy, stay safe!
