The Caregiver Resource Center

Today’s issues surrounding the needs of older adults are complicated and the role of a caregiver can be an all consuming one.  Just as the person being cared for depends on the caregiver, the caregiver depends on others. At the Caregiver Resource Center, we are here to help.

The Caregiver Resource Center provides education, support, and training for you as you provide care for your loved one. You can use these services free-of-charge anytime you have a question pertaining to any caregiver issue.

Our trained staff will identify your needs and provide the resources and/or materials that will help you. We have computer access available for visitors to our center who would like to explore additional options through IRIS, our database that can access local and regional agencies and programs. Internet access is also available as a part of the Center’s resources.

Why choose the Caregiver Resource Center? The Caregiver Resource Center is here to help if you:

Need assistance for an elder living in the Kalamazoo area.
Need to know what supportive services can keep your elder’s independence.
Need to know what agencies to contact for in-home services.
Need to know the details about Medicare and Medicaid coverage.
Need to know what to look for when choosing Long Term Care.
Need to know the early signs of dementia or Alzheimer’s.
Need to know the stressors of care-giving and effective ways to reduce them.
Need to know the difference between a ‘living will” and a “durable power of attorney for health care decisions”.
Need to have a listener who has understanding and empathy for your situation.

We can also help answer any other question you have and can work with you if you have limited availability because of other family obligations.
